Mapping Science

Sponsor Organization: Maryland Science Center

Through June 8
“Mapping Science” will offer visitors the chance to explore the variety of maps at the Maryland Science Center. The perception of maps as only static and two-dimensional will be challenged through the various ways maps are used in the fields of astronomy, biology, paleontology, and earth science. Highlights include: a scavenger hunt where explorers chase through the time of dinosaurs, inside the human body, and along the Chesapeake Bay, hands-on activities that demonstrate how maps are used in everyday life, and planetarium shows and live Science on a Sphere™ presentations that show the technology of mapping using satellites to learn more about our planet and the universe. Visitors can also “map” the organs and processes of daily living though the temporary exhibition BODY WORLDS 2 The Original Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies, which contains nearly 200 human specimens.
